Suriya is an Indian film actor who mainly appears in Tamil films. He is the son of film actor Sivakumar and Lakshmi. He is the elder one in the family, he has two sibilings one younger brother Karthi who is also an actor and younger sister Brindha. He has obtained his under graduation degree in B.Com from Loyola College, Chennai.

In 2006 he married actress Jyothika after being engaged for several years. They tied the knot on 11 September 2006.The couple are blessed with 2 children Diya and Dev.

He made his debut in 1997 with Nerukku Ner movie, where he played the role of Surya. He became popular for his roles in Ghajani as Sanjay Ramasamy, Vaaranam Aayiram as Suriya Krishnan and in Singham as Duraisingam. He was last seen as Masilamani & Sakthi in Massu Engira Masilamani.

He will next be seen in Haiku, 24 and Singam III.

He made his television debut in 2012 as a host for the game show Neengalum Vellalam Oru Kodi which aired on STAR Vijay channel. The show is the Tamil version of original game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?

In 2013, he was listed No.33 in Forbes India's "Celebrity 100 List" for the year.
